Edward Potthast [1857-1927] was an American Impressionist painter. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, left to study at the Royal Academy in Munich in 1879, and left again in 1886 to study with Fernand Cormon in Paris. In 1895 he relocated to New York City, where he was best know for painting people at leisure in Central Park and people on the beaches of New York and New England. |
