Ladies Home Journal (3)

Ladies' Home Journal started in 1883 as a single-page supplement in the Tribune and Farmer magazine. It was written by Louisa Knapp Curtis, and became an independent publication in 1884. It featured articles from social reformers such as Jane Addams, and in 1901 it published two articles highlighting the early aritechtural designs of Frank Lloyd Wright. The magazine was also favored by the government as a publication for delivering messages to house wifes. In 1907, Ladies' Home Journal was the first American Magazine to reach 1 million subscribers. All magazine covers featured in our collection are dated prior to 1923.
